The writer of the epistle to the Hebrews refers, briefly, to 'the cherubim of glory' 'downshadowing the hilasterion'. If they are 'of glory' then how is it that they cast a shadow ? And what is the 'hilasterion' ? [It is not a 'mercy' 'seat'.] What are these, that appear in the very beginning of scripture at the garden of Eden ? Why are they mentioned in so many books of the bible ? In Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, Psalms, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Hebrews ? [And why not in the Apocalypse ?] And who is the man called 'Cherub' in Ezra and Nehemiah ? The fact is that God has revealed something glorious in a thread that runs right through scripture. To God be all the glory. |
